TCV Community Services to Join Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health
Enhancing Services for Individuals in the Allegheny County Region Living with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Behavioral Health Challenges
Jan. 3, 2022 – TCV Community Services, one of Allegheny County’s most-respected nonprofits, providing treatment, care and services to individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges, today announced it will become an affiliate of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, one of Pennsylvania’s largest nonprofit behavioral healthcare providers, serving 25,000 children and adults in 13 states.
As an affiliate of Devereux, TCV will remain an independent legal entity, with Fran Sheedy Bost continuing to serve as executive director. TCV will also maintain its name and full employee base, as well as its vendor and community partnerships. TCV will continue to offer its full array of programs supporting people with behavioral health challenges, intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as mental health and addiction challenges. Individuals and families currently served by TCV will continue to receive the high-quality, compassionate care they expect, in the same program locations. As a result of this new partnership, they will also benefit from Devereux’s clinical expertise, compliance experience and technological infrastructure.
“We are thrilled to partner with Devereux to enhance our ability to serve vulnerable families across our communities,” said TCV Executive Director Fran Sheedy Bost. “It would be impossible to buy the century of experience and advanced best practices that Devereux brings to our model. But as an independent affiliate of Devereux, we now have a clearer, more direct path to improving lives of our most fragile and under-served populations in Allegheny County.”
“In TCV, we not only found the highest-quality service partner, but we also found a like-minded, mission-driven organization that shares our cultural values and deep commitment to person-centered, community-driven care,” said Devereux President and CEO Carl E. Clark II. “We see tremendous opportunities to work together as we reimagine the future of behavioral health care in Allegheny County and beyond.”
Benefits to TCV
As a Devereux affiliate, TCV will gain immediate access to Devereux’s national model of clinical best practices and evidence-based care. This relationship will help TVC continue to grow and advance its deeply rooted mission of serving Allegheny County’s most vulnerable communities.
Specific benefits for TCV include:
- Enhanced employee training, professional education and skill enrichment
- Increased wages, benefits and advancement opportunities for TVC teams
- Advanced recruiting resources from Devereux’s national talent acquisition platform
- Enriched programs and services from Devereux’s internationally recognized clinical, medical and leadership resources, as well as enhanced quality and safety protocols, and risk-management data systems
Partnering with Devereux allows TCV to scale and expand its services, systems, tools, training, and talent to continue its 50-plus-year mission of delivering hope and healing to adults and children across the Allegheny County region.
“This partnership between two behavioral health leaders in Pennsylvania has the potential to transform this type of care for individuals and families all across the Commonwealth,” said Richard S. Edley, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Rehabilitation & Community Providers Association (RCPA). “I am confident that with the expertise Devereux brings and the role TCV plays as a long-serving, trusted community provider, the behavioral health landscape just got that much stronger for individuals in need of effective, efficient, and high-quality care.”
Benefits to Devereux
The partnership with TCV will deepen Devereux’s behavioral health treatment practices and perspectives in niche areas, particularly drug and alcohol treatment and rehabilitation services, a specialty expertise of TCV, while expanding its reach into western Pennsylvania. Together, TCV and Devereux will be able to grow into more areas and better serve individuals and families in the Commonwealth and beyond.
The affiliation will be effective in early January 2022, subject to customary legal and regulatory approvals.
To better oversee the partnership, TCV’s Board will be reconstituted to include four Devereux appointees and three TCV appointees. All other TCV board members, and friends and supporters from throughout the region, will be invited to join a newly established, Allegheny County-based Advisory Board. The combination of services and support functions between the two organizations will evolve over the next 12-18 months.
